“The G550 - an essential addition”, “Who would have thought it”, “The G550 - big sister feeds on junior’s success”. The media’s response at the launch in Mindelheim of the G550 standard machine and the next stage in the development of the G350 was very positive.

It was all quite different two years earlier, when at the first outing for the GROB G350 standard machine, some journalists expressed not a little surprise that “GROB, the automobile industry specialist” had, they believed, dared to challenge “the market share of the established standard machine manufacturers”.  Any doubts expressed at the time are gone. During the last two years and despite the toughest of environments in the machine engineering sector, the G350 has established itself in the market and at the same gained considerable respect among media representatives.

Organizational decisions made when the G350 was introduced were partly responsible for the success. These ranged from the creation of an extensive sales department for the standard machine business to the physical separation of the system and standard business at the production stage. Today GROB is well on the way to achieving its goal of transferring its globally acknowledged expertise in production plants to the standard machine business. The showcasing of the “G550 big sister” is therefore another step. A step, which was not just logical, but also essential. The G550 can be used for machining the next level of work piece size. An advantage of considerable importance in the export business.

But there was not just the new G550 to admire on press day in Hall 8 at GROB’s Mindelheim works.  In addition, GROB showed off to the media world the next stage in the development of the G350. New features on GROB’s  successful standard machine include improved automation and reduction of setup times as a result of the new pallet changer and pallet store, a new circular swivel table with a diameter of 250 mm and further options for the G350 courtesy of a special dust extraction unit, as is required for CRP machining, for example.

This further development and expansion of the standard machine portfolio show that GROB has within a very short period of time made its mark in this hard fought segment.
