December 2009 - GROB’s year ends with a marketing offensive
First the media at a GROB press conference, then customers at GROB open days for representatives and finally the general public at the EUROMOLD in Frankfurt. As 2009 drew to a close, GROB launched a marketing firecracker … with prospects for the year ahead continuing to look good.
“Going into the expected upturn strengthened …”. Admittedly we at GROB do not know exactly when the upturn will take off so that the machine engineering industry can get back on track. But what we do know -not least from many positive utterances, not just by the media, but also by our customers - that we at GROB have, in the year now drawing to a close, done everything possible to further strengthen the company’s position going forward. Starting with the massive investment in the new Hall 8 at our Mindelheim factory and the associated upgrading of the production process. A product update in the standard machine business, reflected in the next developmental stage of the G350 and in an expansion of the GROB portfolio in the form of the G550. New products and new, further improved production concepts mean we now occupy pole position.
The product developments mentioned above were showcased to the media, our customers and the general public at the end of this year. On 11 November, amid a flurry of positive feedback from the media representatives (as we reported in our last newsletter) and on 26-28 November at GROB’s Training and Education Center in Mindelheim. On these three days, our sales team, together with our agencies, gave existing and future customers the opportunity to get to know, in a more intimate environment, not just the new G550, but also the next developmental stage of the G350. Over a hundred visitors took up the spontaneous invitation, with the signing of the contract for a G550 by ASW Maschinenbau from Lindau proving to be the highlight of the get-together. Rudolf Dreer, departmental head of standard machine marketing, focused on the positives: “The considerable interest shown by our customers and also of course the contract signing were certainly the highlights of our open days. But the broad spread of our customer also impressed me greatly”. And that was actually the case. Whether it was the suppliers of vehicle door seals, employees from major car manufacturers, producers of parts for turbines, tool and mold constructors or distinguished representatives from the fiber composite industry, these visitors from so many different sectors were once again greatly impressed by GROB’s achievements.
We were also able to successfully demonstrate our potential at EUROMOLD in Frankfurt in early December. Almost 60,000 visitors from 86 countries attended the trade fair this year. Our company was there at EUROMOLD as joint exhibitors on the Association of German Tool and Mold Makers (VWDF) stand. We showed off a G350 at its latest development stage on the approx. 230 sq.m VDWF exhibition area. Rudolf Dreher said: “The technical developments in tool and mold making are continuing in the direction of HSC milling. The surfaces that can be reached in this way, plus the machining of deep cavities using five-axis simultaneous milling, is in so many cases replacing eroding. The most important consideration in this context is high spindle rpm. When automating with workpieces, the requirement to be able to run unmanned shifts is increasing. So our horizontal spindle is proving to be more and more popular. Not least because of it is so competitive.”
