GROB goes East: Trade show stations in Russia, Poland and Peoples Republic of China : GROB-WERKE GmbH & Co. KG
Russia, Poland and the People’s Republic of China were the stations of an intensive six-week trade fair rallye for GROB-WERKE starting in mid-May. Metalloobrabotka in Moscow, Mach-Tool in Posen and CIMES in Beijing were successful trade show platforms for GROB universal machines in growing markets.

Since 2000, GROB has been regularly participating in the Metalloobrabotka in Moscow, the leading Russian trade fair with international significance for the engineering products industry. Traditionally representatives of the mechanical engineering sector meet in May at this annual international trade exhibition for technology, machinery and materials processing tools. It is practically the primary fair for the machine tool industry of Russia and adjoining former CIS countries. It is no wonder that almost all well-known national and international machine manufacturers are represented at the Metalloobrabotka in Moscow. Visitors to the trade show include potential customers in the automotive and ship-building industries.

“During the five days of the trade show, not only our regular customers visited, but we were also able to meet quite a few new customers with many of whom we had very promising conversations,” stated Dr. Dimitry Akulin, Head of the GROB branch office in Moscow, describing events at the show. “You practically have to think of Metalloobrabotka as a ‘club’ to which all important representatives of the engineering products industry belong. GROB is likewise a member of this club, involved in Russian industry and enjoying an excellent reputation”. The objective of GROB’s trade fair presence was to meet new customers from Russia’s rapidly growing industrial sector, primarily including aerospace and railway construction, ship-building and equipment makers as well as the oil and gas industry. Despite the tense political situation, Russia remains one of the most important growth markets, and not just for German mechanical engineering. Russia is increasingly moving to the forefront as a production center.

GROB at the Mach-Tool in Posen
At the beginning of June, the successful trade fair rallye continued at the Mach-Tool in Posen, Poland’s largest industrial trade show. Here, in Poland’s fifth-largest city, GROB celebrated its trade show premiere, and from June 3 to June 6, the company presented a G350 universal machine in this interesting new market.  “It was out first appearance in Poland and was successfully structured together with our representative, the MEXSERV sales organization,” said Alexander Attenberger, Head of GROB universal machine sales, summarizing the international aspects. “Primarily the emphasis was on expanding familiarity of the GROB brand in one of the most promising markets for machine tools in Eastern Europe. And we accomplished that successfully”. Nearly all customers invited by MEXSERV visited the GROB trade fair stand to learn about the latest developments of GROB universal machines. “More than 90 percent of the visitors to our stand were potential new customers, a few of whom had concrete requests for proposals, as well as two customers who placed orders right after the fair,” Attenberger said. Mach-Tool has been held in Posen for ten years.

GROB China at the CIMES in Beijing
The next station in the trade fair rallye took place between the 18th and 22nd of June at the 12th China International Machine Tool & Tools Exhibition (CIMES) in Beijing. After the CCMT in Shanghai, it was GROB’s second trade fair appearance in Asia’s most important machine tool market this year. At its 120 m² stand, GROB China exhibited a GA550 5-axis universal machining center, equipped with a Siemens controller and an 18,000 rpm spindle. “Showing the GA550 in Beijing was exactly the right decision,” Alexander Attenberger declared. “We had a lot of interested visitors to our stand from the aerospace industry. The GA machining centers with their complex and extremely precise components are particularly suitable for their purposes”.

Next on the GROB Group trade show schedule is the FIA in Farnborough, England in mid-July, followed in August by the ICHI Seiki Machine Tool Exhibition 2014 in Singapore; after that are the IMTS in Chicago, USA and AMB in Stuttgart.
