GROB Presented with Volvo Cars Award of Excellence : GROB-WERKE GmbH & Co. KG
At the end of last year the Volvo Car Corporation presented GROB-WERKE with the highest honor awarded by that company. In 2012, GROB-WERKE was honored with the Volvo Cars Quality Excellence Award for excellent quality performance, The Volvo Cars Award of Excellence presented this past year again honors the quality of GROB’s product range and close cooperation of the entire GROB team.

GROB’s nomination for this prize had been announced by the Volvo Car Corporation earlier in October. Jochen Nahl, Director of Sales, considered this nomination “a validation of the more than 40-year, fair and trustful working relationship with Volvo.” This relationship started in the 1970s with the delivery of special machines to manufacture front axle beams and shafts; transfer lines for steering knuckles, rear axle housings and planetary gear holders, for basic housings and clutch housings produced in the former truck plants in Lindesberg and Köping. Cooperation expanded over the years and achieved its latest pinnacle in the current DRIVE-E project with the delivery of G-modules to produce cylinder heads and blocks.

“We are very proud of this long-term working relationship with the Volvo Car Corporation,” Jochen Nahl declared at the award presentation in Gothenburg. “This is proof that we can assure the production of both diesel and gasoline engines through our wide product range of high-quality machinery and technologies, greatest reliability and extraordinary flexibility. GROB can satisfy all its customer demands with an excellent team, from key account management, project management, to after sales management through to on-site installation personnel. No matter whether it is a newly developed machine or modification of existing machinery, we can get the job done, even in conjunction with machines made by other manufacturers.

In total, seventy suppliers were nominated for the Volvo Cars Award of Excellence, of which six finalists were recognized in the categories of quality, technology, cost competitiveness, and environmental and social responsibility.  The awards ceremony took place on December 18, 2013 at the Volvo headquarters in Gothenburg.
