With the GRC-M60, GROB is expanding its portfolio with a standardized yet flexibly configurable robot cell for efficient series production. The aim is to significantly increase output, sustainably reduce unit costs, and streamline production processes.
The robot cell allows the connection of either one or two 5-axis universal machining centers. It is compatible with the G150, G350a, and G350 models. The GRC-M60 thus offers a high degree of flexibility for different component sizes, batch sizes, and production strategies.
At the heart of the system is a 6-axis industrial robot from FANUC, equipped with a permanently mounted single or double gripper. In conjunction with modern camera technology, the system ensures safe and precise alignment of trolleys and Euro pallets. This reduces non-machining time and increases process reliability – especially during longer unmanned production phases.
The feeding system is also variable in design: depending on production requirements, the number of feeds can be configured with one, two, or four positions. You can choose between Euro pallets or roll cages, and a drawer module is also available as an option. This modular structure allows the material supply to be precisely adapted to the variety of parts and production volume. Despite this flexibility, the GRC-M60 has a compact footprint and can therefore be integrated into existing production environments with limited space.
Digital transparency with GROB4Automation
A central element of the GROB robot cell is the GROB4Automation control software. It enables visual organization of production orders and supports intelligent, directly integrated order planning. The aim is to extend unmanned production periods while maintaining a high level of transparency across all ongoing processes. Ergonomic machine operation ensures that employees can work intuitively with the system. Clear user interfaces and structured processes minimize setup costs and create the basis for stable series production with a high number of parts per day.
"With the GRC-M60, we are combining our decades of experience in conventional machining and automation in a compact solution," explains Ralph Birkle, project team leader at GROB. "Today's customers expect scalable systems that improve both productivity and cost-effectiveness. The flexible machine connection and the variably configurable feeding create precisely this adaptability."
Automation as a strategic building block
The premiere of the GRC-M60 at the anniversary in-house exhibition underscores the company's strategic orientation. For 100 years, GROB-WERKE has stood for precision, innovation, and customer focus. In addition to 5-axis universal machines, solutions for electromobility, and digital production systems, modular automation is becoming increasingly important.
In view of increasing demands for flexibility, a shortage of skilled workers, and cost pressure in the industry, the GRC-M60 offers a practical solution: standardized, scalable, and seamlessly integrable into existing production lines. It thus contributes to future-proof manufacturing – both technologically and economically.
In addition, at its in-house exhibition themed "100 Years of GROB," the company will present a wide range of other automation solutions in live operation – from rotary pallet storage systems and linear pallet storage systems to various robot cells for varying production requirements. GROB is thus underlining its system expertise along the entire value chain and demonstrating in a practical way how scalable automation concepts can strengthen industrial manufacturing in the long term.
