The new pedestrian bridge connecting the GROB-WERKE employee parking garage, which is currently under construction, with the company premises on the opposite side of the street has now been successfully installed. The glass bridge was manufactured by Lamparter GmbH & Co. KG and is impressive in size: 34 meters long, 3.6 meters wide, 3.4 meters high, and weighing around 40 tons.

To avoid disrupting rush hour traffic, the impressive lifting operation took place on Saturday morning, July 26, 2025. Under the watchful eyes of numerous excited spectators, the bridge was lifted into place in one piece with the help of two mobile cranes.

Access to the bridge is located on level 2 of the six-story parking garage, which already has 1,556 parking spaces in its first section and will be completed in about 14 months. The official opening of the parking garage and bridge is planned for September 2025.

The new connection over the busy B16 means that employees will no longer have to cross the road, which was previously dangerous. The bridge thus makes a significant contribution to road safety and at the same time helps to maintain traffic flow on the busy road between the motorway entrance and the Mindelheim city area. Up to 3,000 GROB employees are expected to use the new parking garage every day, many of them in carpools.

“We are delighted with the successful installation of the pedestrian bridge. It marks a significant milestone in the construction of our parking garage and makes an important contribution to providing our colleagues with a safe and direct route to their workplace,” explains Wolfgang Schuster, Head of Building and Property Management at GROB.

If further demand arises in the future, the parking garage can be expanded by up to 1,980 additional parking spaces – 680 in a second construction phase and 1,300 in a third.
