With the successful implementation of this project, GROB India demonstrates the high level of expertise of its local team. After comprehensive training at the main plant in Mindelheim, the employees have mastered all key steps, from assembly and quality inspection to commissioning. In doing so, they ensure consistent compliance with the GROB Group’s globally applicable quality standards.
At the same time, the locally manufactured G550a marks a milestone for the Indian machine tool market. GROB India is the first manufacturer in the country to produce a horizontal 5-axis machining center of this design. “This achievement is a major success for our team in India. In-house production of the G550a impressively demonstrates how quickly the facility has developed and that we can reliably implement our high-quality standards worldwide. This will strengthen our position in the Indian market in the long term,” explains GROB CSO Christian Müller.
Inauguration Ceremony in the Indian Tradition
The completion of the first universal machining center was also celebrated with a traditional Indian blessing ceremony. Executives and employees gathered at the plant’s Technical Application Center for a festive ceremony. In keeping with local tradition, this milestone was marked with flowers, the lighting of a symbolic lamp, and blessings for safety, prosperity, and long-term success.
Successful Development of the Location
The company’s current success builds on GROB’s long-standing development in the Indian market. Since the Chennai subsidiary was founded in 2007, the company has continuously expanded its sales, service, and after sales structures and has established itself as a reliable partner for OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers in India.
The successful localization of production also lays the foundation for the location’s next steps in growth. Over the next twelve months, GROB India plans to double production volumes and strategically expand the product range manufactured in India. The South Asian market continues to offer significant growth potential, particularly in the area of universal machining centers and in future-oriented industries such as aerospace. The manufacture and delivery of the first G550a produced in India lays an important foundation for this and also marks the beginning of a new chapter for GROB India.
