With around 1,100 exhibitors, 72,000 m² of exhibition space, and more than 17,000 trade visitors, Battery Show Europe once again confirmed its status as the industry's leading trade fair this year. Dürr and GROB appeared together for the second time and were the largest exhibitors, presenting state-of-the-art production technology for lithium-ion batteries – specifically for use in next-generation electric and hybrid vehicles.
Great interest in technical innovations
The 3D model of the concept factory attracted numerous visitors and proved to be one of the highlights of the trade fair stand. Transparent touchscreens allowed trade visitors to interactively immerse themselves in the complex production processes and gain deeper insights into the technical processes.
The new concept factory from Dürr and GROB aims to make battery cell production significantly more efficient: It requires up to 50 percent less production space and energy – while delivering increased performance and maximum cell quality. Two key technologies are at the heart of this: dry electrode coating (Dürr), which does not require any energy-intensive drying processes, and powerful Z-folder technology for cell assembly with integrated notching (GROB).
Broad portfolio in electric mobility
GROB also presented other highlights from the world of electromobility: In addition to hairpin stators in various process stages, 3D model lines showed module and pack assembly. A Z-folder station in live action and a full-scale model car illustrating the components installed rounded off the exhibition. The combination of innovative technology and tangible presentation was very well received by visitors. “Our goal was to present our forward-looking solutions to trade fair visitors in a practical way and to position ourselves as a competent partner for battery production. We are therefore all the more delighted with the great interest shown by the trade audience,” summarizes Christian Müller, CSO of GROB-WERKE.
Fixed date in the trade fair calendar
Alongside EMO and AMB in the machining sector, Battery Show Europe is now one of the most important industry events of the year for GROB, underscoring the growing significance of electromobility for the company. Together with its partner Dürr, GROB is pursuing the goal of establishing itself as a leading system supplier for battery production facilities in Europe and North America. “With our expanded portfolio of highly available machines and systems, we cover almost the entire value chain for battery cell production with our own technologies,” explains German Wankmiller, CEO of the GROB Group. “The positive response to the Battery Show confirms that we are on the right track.”
The dates for the next trade fairs for battery technology have already been set: GROB and Dürr will be showcasing their expertise at the Battery Show North America in Detroit from October 6 to 9, 2025, and at the Battery Show India in Greater Noida, India, from October 30 to November 1, 2025.
