Dr. h.c. Burkhart Grob, owner of GROB-WERKE passed away on May 20, 2016, shortly after his 90th birthday. Dr. h.c. Burkhart Grob was a pioneer of machine tool construction in Germany. Throughout his eventful life, he set milestones in numerous ways.

Both as a successful and visionary entrepreneur, as well as an enthusiastic and ingenious engineer and technician. Born in 1926 in Munich, he took over his father's machine factory in 1952 and in doing so assumed entrepreneurial responsibility at an early stage. He did not relinquish this responsibility until he died. Even into his old age, he continuously encouraged his employees to strive towards the fine-tuning of products and processes.

Under the guidance of Dr. h.c. Burkhart Grob, GROB-WERKE achieved unprecedented growth, especially in recent years. He set the course for this phase very early on. First at the Munich site, and then from 1968 in Mindelheim. Over the years, GROB-WERKE developed to become one of the world's leading manufacturers of production lines for the automotive and component supplier industry in the powertrain segment, and now leads the market in the engine/transmission machining segment. For decades now, the company has been able to count almost all major international car makers at its customers. The global GROB Group, comprising four production sites, service centers and sales branches in numerous countries, has 5,300 employees. In the 2016 fiscal year ending in February, the company achieved an output topping 1 billion euro and posted incoming orders worth over 1.1 billion euro.

In Dr. h.c. Burkhart Grob, GROB-WERKE is losing a visionary and a creative force who drew on his sure sense of innovation, work ethic, discipline, dependability, perfection and a great deal of entrepreneurial courage to steer his company along the right course at all times. As a family business, GROB-WERKE has always believed in the long-term perspective and organic growth. The company has clearly focused on expanding its core expertise in existing and new areas of business. Dr. h.c. Burkart Grob also leaves behind an unforgettable legacy of tremendous social and cultural commitment, especially for the town of Mindelheim and the Unterallgäu district. These are the principles under which the family will lead the company into the next generation.
