Seven apprenticeship programs and four dual degree programs
From automation technology to manufacturing and IT: The new apprentices are starting out in seven different trades. The apprenticeship programs for electronics technicians specializing in automation technology and industrial mechanics are particularly in demand, with twelve openings each. In addition, there are six mechatronics engineers, three machining mechanics, and four each of technical product designers, IT specialists, and industrial business administrators.
An exciting journey into professional life is also beginning for 18 dual students. Following the Ulm model, they are studying electrical and information technology, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or industrial engineering. In doing so, they combine subject-specific vocational training at GROB with a university degree program at the Ulm University of Applied Sciences.
GROB provides training worldwide
The start of training programs is by no means limited to Mindelheim. This year, new trainees have also begun their training at GROB’s international locations: 52 in the U.S., 18 in Brazil, 11 in China, and three in Italy. A total of 601 young people were most recently enrolled in training programs within the GROB Group. As of September 1, a total of 340 young professionals are learning and studying in Mindelheim, including 259 apprentices and 81 dual students.
Learning in modernized facilities
For the new class at GROB’s main plant, training began entirely at the recently expanded and modernized training center for the first time. Spanning approximately 5,000 square meters, new training and meeting rooms, laboratory areas, and modern workshops provide state-of-the-art learning conditions. The program also kicked off with joint orientation days at the Klosterwald Education and Experience Center near Ottobeuren. The focus was on teamwork, sharing ideas, and getting to know one another.
Training as an investment in the future
GROB places a high priority on training and is consistently committed to fostering young talent. “Especially in economically challenging times, we view training as an important investment in the future of our company, and we are proud to once again welcome numerous new colleagues this year,” explains Florian Rauch, who heads the training department at the main plant in Mindelheim together with Andreas Jedelhauser. “Our goal is and remains to provide young people with high-quality training and to retain them at GROB for the long term.”
In addition to workshops and training courses, GROB offers, among other things, subsidies for travel, housing, and moving expenses, as well as health and fitness programs. The three top trainees from each graduating class also receive a free e-leasing vehicle for six months.
