At this year's Moulding Expo, GROB will be presenting on Stand 9C22 in Hall 9 the virtually limitless applications of its Generation 2 G350 5-axis universal machining center for the die and mold industries. After exhibiting in 2017, this will be GROB's second appearance at Moulding Expo.

Mindelheim/Stuttgart. On over 100 m² of space, GROB-WERKE will be showcasing its exhibition highlight, the G350 5-axis universal machining center, and demonstrating live the complete machining of a mold insert from the die and mold industries. The exhibition machine is equipped with a TNC 640 HEIDENHAIN control, and a type HSK-A63 motorized spindle that achieves 16,000 rpm, 206 Nm and 32 kW (40 % duty cycle). GROB will show how this center guarantees an extremely high degree of accuracy for machining complex tool molds over long periods.

Outstanding stability and accuracy with flexible machining

The GROB G-module machine concept, with its 5-axis simultaneous technology, ensures flexible and trouble-free machining of the most diverse range of sizes and materials, making it the ideal solution for the die and mold industries. Three linear and two rotary axes achieve 5-sided machining, as well as 5-axis simultaneous interpolation. With a swivel range of 225 degrees in the A-axis and 360 degrees in the B-axis, the GROB machines offer maximum degrees of freedom. Their fast chip-to-chip times, compact design, good view and access to the work area coupled with the innovative further development of the spindle technology guarantee maximum efficiency and productivity.

GROB compensation software guarantees maximum accuracy

GSC, the GROB compensation software (GROB Swivel Axis Calibration) was developed specifically to maximize machine accuracy in the die and mold industries. The advanced basic machine, the cooling system carried by the machine bed and the additional cooling channels in the guide rails of the linear axes offer additional benefits for use in this sector. Optimized accuracy, outstanding surface quality, maximum machining volume and the longest possible Z-travel path make the Generation 2 G350 perfectly equipped to meet daily machining requirements.
